Preparing for Death with
Integrity & Compassion
A Guide to End of Life Decisions
Making end of life decisions can be the most difficult thing we have to do in life.
The thought of not seeing your loved ones causes much anxiety and fear.
Thinking about death can be the most horrifying thought.

Will I be in pain?
Will I suffer?
Will my family be ready to have “the conversation”?
Will my wishes be carried out?
How long will I have?
These feeling and thoughts can be mentally exhausting.
Hospice & Palliative Care can reduce those anxieties.
You’ll receive pain medications at no cost to you
A nurse can teach you simple ways to make you comfortable without medications
The social worker can assist with carrying out your last wishes
The spiritual counselor will be there to help plan your funeral desires
I truly understand what these thoughts and feeling must be like. I’ve counseled many families and friends going through the same experiences.
…...Families are afraid to hear the word Hospice. They believe that once they sign up they have to stay in Hospice and die.
You can always change your mind. You can come off of Hospice and you don’t need your doctor’s permission.
…….Patients want to keep their independence. They don’t always want a hospital bed in their home. They want to maintain integrity by sleeping in their own bed.
It’s always your choice. You can have it your way. You don’t have to have a hospital bed, but it’s an option even if you change your mind at no cost to you.
…..Caregivers suffer from burn out especially when their loved ones are combative.
Hospice offers Respite. They’ll provide transportation and pay for the patient to stay for a week at a contracted facility of the family’s choice to take stress off the burdened caregiver.
